Information on Witjira National Park, SA
Witjira National Park is a true oasis in the desert, featuring more than 120 mound springs surrounded by lush greenery and abundant wildlife. Located on the western edge of the Simpson Desert, this 780,000-hectare park sits in one of Australia's driest regions amid endless sand dunes and stark gibber plains. The artesian springs maintain temperatures of 38°C to 43°C, breathing life into this otherwise very arid region.
The seemingly lush and thriving habitats appear like an oasis in the desert, with the popular Dalhousie Springs being a major attraction.
