Merredin is a town in Western Australia's central Wheatbelt, located roughly midway between Perth and Kalgoorlie on the Great Eastern Highway. Situated approximately 260 kilometres east of Perth, it serves as the major commercial and retail centre for the eastern Wheatbelt.
Merredin traditionally serves as a stopping point between Perth and the Kalgoorlie gold mines. The town lies on the route of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme and the Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail. Travel options
Travel from Merredin is well-connected by multiple transport modes. The Prospector train runs Monday-Saturday around 7AM from Perth, taking 3 hours 30 minutes to reach Merredin, continuing to Kalgoorlie. The MerredinLink operates return services every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from East Perth Terminal. Direct trains depart twice daily between Perth and Merredin. By road, Merredin is approximately three hours' drive east of Perth via the Great Eastern Highway, with an alternative route through Toodyay. TransWA also operates the Prospector, Avon Link, and Goldrush Coach Lines services. The town's strategic location makes it accessible for both regional and long-distance travel.
