As it is the only Bar located above the base of the lifts it is a popular stop for skiers on the way back to the lifts or to meet with friends and farewell before heading home.

The Original Sundeck Hotel was destroyed by fire January 30th 1960 causing 60,000 pnds of damage. The fire was just 7 months after opening and started in the kitchen. The newspaper clip below shows the damage. No one was hurt , a dog raised the alarm and 38 guests and 10 staff fled the Hotel.
