Big House Hotel (The)
The official name of the hotel was the
New Hunter River Hotel but it was always known as the Big House to the wharfies and truck drivers etc. It was a blood house in the old days and also an early opener.
It was a big Pub and the street behind it was Napoleon Street. In the 1990's it went upmarket and is now known as Morton's on Sussex.
