Notting Hill

The Notting Hill hotel's history goes back to the 1870's when it was known as the Half Way House Hotel. Its origins were accomomdation for a coach service that ran from Prahran out to Ferntree Gully by Thomas Gee Wilkinson a brick manufacturer who settled in the area in 1857 and was responsible for the naming of the area as Notting Hill.

The current Hotel, built in 1891, sits on the same property, and had been in the ongoing proud Publican ownership of Kath Byer from 1936 to her passing at 92 years of age in November 2010 . Kath had always been keen to provide a good hearty meal atmosphere. News article - Waverley Leader

The day I visited in 2008, and met Michael who was tending the bar on that occasion well demonstrated that the recipe was working well. Despite the cold weather that day, with all the bars and even the outside area, was crowded with local business and tradesmen thoroughly enjoying a great lunch and of course, washing it down with a good ale!
