These days the product is a reputable 'top drop' unlike the heady days of illicit production back in the 1890's in the area. But you'll have to pop in to get the full story of that fascinating event, and savour their single malt whisky, strawberry Schnapps and tasty whisky based Coffee Cream - all very easy to indulge!
The Shed provides travellers the opportunity to sample many of the local's wonderful taste treats, including fine chocolates, Ice Cream, locally brewed beers, a number of excellent cheese products and yoghurts. The Shed houses a cafe with open fire and also boasts an alfresco meals area.
Historical information about the Rail Trail and the origins of the Shed itself make for a great read.

"Two things influence the way we craft our beer: local water and local tastes. So, we've customised a range of beautifully balanced beers, including some great seasonal varieties, that have been given two thumbs up by the Mudgee locals".

Otway Estate Victoria
Otway Estate Brewery and Winery
This up and coming brewery produces their very own Prickly Moses range of ales - in fact an even dozen of them at the time of writing, with some of the more popular ones sold both in, and beyond the region 'on tap'.
Located right in the Otway Ranges rainfall area where it is known to reach over 2000ml per annum of rainfall (yes that much!) this purest of pure water source is the secret to their success in producing some very nice thirst quenching ales.
But this pursuit is one of many that the business operates, with its roots in wine production and event management utilising the modern facilites built in Barongarook. Accommodation is also available in cottages built on the estate, right amongst the grape vines.
Needless to say, they have a number of their tapped beers available at the nearby historic Gellibrand Hotel 11kms south of the brewery.

"Good slection of micro-Brewery ales here!.
Mountain Ale, Pale Ale, and "The Beast!". I particularly like the "Beast", despite being a pale ale man myself. Top location for clubs and get-togethers. On the day we were there, they had just catered lunch for about 50 of the Hot Rodders Car Club touring the Mansfield Jamieson area for the weekend." - Gaz

Rutherglen
Bintara Micro Brewery
"The beer may be big on flavour, but the bewwery dog is small in stature!
The Microbrewery had three beers on tap to choose from the day we visited, but did have a fourth, a dark ale, that was evidently quite a nice drop. Not sure whether it will be re-runing, but the locals spoke well of it. Bintara is also a winery, running under the name of Vintara.
The beers comprised a Wheat Beer, which we felt was a little on the bitter, in fact citris like flavour. There was a Pale Ale that went down quite nicely, and a Pilsner that was a temptation to try as well. So we await the resurgence of their Black Beer!
By the way, the dog's name is Chow Chow.
