Former Railway Hotel. Sign on the Golden Highway. All that is left of the Railway Hotel, The hotel burnt down in 1997. The bricks from the hotel were being carted away when I visited.

Mendooran is a peaceful rural town situated along the Castlereagh River in central western New South Wales, 75 kilometres from Dubbo and 348 kilometres west of Sydney. The oldest settlement on the Castlereagh River's banks, this charming town retains its old-time character with traditional wide streets and several picnic areas.

Known as a "mural town," Mendooran features striking historical murals depicting its pastoral heritage, including bullock teams hauling wool bales. The town has a strong reputation for horse sports and hosts the annual Mendooran Rodeo and historic Mendooran Cup racing event.
